Before You Open Your Pond Shield Kit
Every successful Pond Shield installation begins before the epoxy is mixed.
Taking a few minutes to prepare your project, gather the necessary materials,
and understand the application process can help prevent common mistakes and
produce professional, long-lasting results.
KB-00 is the starting point for every Pond Shield project. This guide is
intended as a convenient reference, but it should always be used alongside
the complete Pond Shield Instructions and the Frequently Asked Questions for
project-specific guidance.
Prepare Your Project
Before opening Part A or Part B, make sure your project and work area are
ready for coating.

- Review the FAQ for guidance related to your project.
- Gather all required tools and materials before mixing.
- Plan your exit path so you do not coat yourself into a corner.
- Set aside enough uninterrupted time to complete the application.
Proper preparation helps reduce mistakes, minimize wasted material, and
create a smoother, more efficient installation process.
Confirm the Surface Is Ready
Pond Shield should only be applied over a properly prepared surface. Before
mixing, confirm that the surface is clean, completely dry, free of dust and
debris, and has the proper surface profile or “tooth” required for adhesion.
Complete all crack repairs and apply any required primer before beginning
the coating process. Different substrates require different preparation

Understand Your Working Time
Once Part A and Part B are combined, the working time begins immediately.
Mix only the amount of Pond Shield that you can apply within approximately
20–30 minutes.
Large batches can generate heat and cure more quickly. For better control,
begin with a small batch and pour the mixed epoxy immediately into a large,
flat paint tray or directly onto the prepared project surface. Never leave
mixed epoxy sitting in the mixing cup.
Important: Success starts before the first batch is mixed.

Build Success Before the First Coat
Before beginning your application, verify that you have the correct tools,
suitable weather and temperature conditions, and a clear understanding of
the order in which the coating will be applied.
Investing a few extra minutes in preparation can help prevent rushed mixing,
